Chinese Vase by Fusion 360 and Recycled Materials

I am an 8-grade student from St. Margret's episcopal school.

Creating an Eco-Friendly Vase with Traditional Chinese Decorative Style (3D Printing) 。

In today's increasingly environmentally conscious world, the reuse of waste materials has become an important environmental practice. This project aims to utilize discarded Starbucks coffee cans, hemp rope, and pistachio shells to create an eco-friendly vase, while incorporating traditional Chinese decorative elements to reflect the concept of environmental protection and waste utilization. 

Materials Needed: 

• Starbucks coffee cans: Providing the basic structure for the vase. 
• Hemp rope: Used for decoration and securing the coffee cans. 
• Pistachio shells: Used for creating flower decorations. 

Tools used:

hot glue gun, utility knife, double-sided tape, paint, watercolor pens, spray paint metal cans, 502 adhesive, 3D printer.

Software： Fusion 360 ，AutoCAD

a. Preparation: 

• Collect and clean discarded Starbucks coffee cans, ensuring their surfaces are clean. 
• Prepare an adequate quantity and quality of hemp rope and pistachio shells. 

b. Decorating the Coffee Cans: 

• Apply glue or double-sided tape to the surface of the coffee cans. 
• Wrap the hemp rope around the coffee cans, ensuring it is securely fastened and aesthetically pleasing. 

c. Flower Decoration: 

• Clean and dry the pistachio shells. 
• Use colored pens or paint to create flower patterns on the pistachio shells. 
• Cut the pistachio shells into petal shapes and glue them onto the coffee cans to form flower patterns. 

Paint the pistachio shell flowers blue, resembling the Blue Lotus flower. I really like a Chinese song called "Blue Lotus Flower", it has a very beautiful artistic conception。

• Design decorative frames with traditional Chinese elements using Fusion 360 and AutoCAD software. 
• 3D print the decorative frames and spray paint them with colorful finishes. 
• Place the Chinese-style frames on top of the vase, integrating them with the flower decorations. 

Add additional decorative elements, such as Chinese-style pendants, if necessary

Expected Outcome:

Create a uniquely designed and environmentally significant vase, combining traditional Chinese decorative style with eco-friendly materials.

Raise awareness of environmental protection and the importance of traditional craftsmanship, encouraging others to use waste materials and incorporate cultural heritage in creative practices.

Conclusion:

This project provides an opportunity to engage in sustainable handicraft practices while celebrating traditional Chinese decorative art. By reusing waste materials and integrating cultural elements, we can create beautiful and meaningful items that promote environmental awareness and cultural appreciation.
