Chill Space Design for Work Area at Home

Due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) in Taiwan, the government informed us to stay at home. Therefore, it is important to create a comfortable space to hang out all day at home. In this little area, you can do whatever you like! Complete assignments, read books, watch movies, play video games, etc. Rather than being a sunshine lover, I prefer to have dim lighting in my space, which I think is relaxed and romantic at the same time.

The main source of my inspiration for my decoration is from DigsDigs. There are some awesome room lighting designs on this website. From examining some examples, I decided to make my own design clean and simple.

1x Rectangular Empty Box

1x SNÖYRA Light Chain (IKEA)

1x Fragrance Diffuser (THYMES)

1x Table Lamp

The light chain is the spotlight of the design and also the primary light source of the space. Therefore, installing it at the top of the desk would be the best. Also, in my opinion, orange is the best lighting colour that brings warmth and enhances my concentration.

I entangled the chain on the tube-like shelf above, decorated with some cute little figures to create a vivid mood. As an alternative, you can also place the lights around the wall with paper tapes. Make sure you have the batteries already before you start!

I have a lot of odds and ends on my desk since I don't have a drawer. It looks messy when there are so many things on the desk. Therefore, I prepared an empty box to place my items.

It looks more organized now!

The fragrance diffuser is one of the most essential elements in the chill space design!

You can choose your favourite aroma and place it on your desk. When your space smells nice, it will reduce stress or anxiety and boost your energy. You will feel more relaxed and be immersed in your little area.

Place some decorations in your area !

My little corner's decoration is Pucky, the doll's name, from POP MART. There are various themes of Pucky dolls that you can choose to fit your space. They are both soothing and stress-relieving. More importantly, these dolls are small to avoid taking up too many spaces on the desk.

You can also decorate with other objects! (Like flowers) However, I suggest choosing something small and delicate to maintain the tidiness of the area.

I like to play Switch in my spare time. In this case, when placing it on my desk, I can reach it more easily whenever I finished my work.

Moreover, I can make use of the icon from Animal Crossing on the mechanism as an additional decoration.

If you feel like the light chain is not bright enough, you can also place a table lamp. It is important to have sufficient lightings to protect your eyes!
