Children Alphabet Box With Jackson Cube

Many a times when we go to buy alphabet cubes for children, we find that the toys available in the market are quite costly. So here is a cheaper version of the alphabet cubes. It is easy to make and you can allways go back and make more if your kid chews or tears it.

Ingredients:
Chart paper/ card stock paper
Scissors/cutters
child safe glue
Stickers/old color magazines/color and paint brush

Cut lots of 1.5 x 3 inches of chart paper (thats what we call them at our place) or any hard card stock paper.
Each box requires 6 pieces.
This is a good size to make. Ofcourse you can make them smaller or larger. Just make sure the length is double the width (L=Wx2)

1 x 2 inches paper makes a smaller but sturdier cube.

Take 2 pieces and overlap them cross wise so that they are at 90 degrees to each other. Now fold one of the paper to size it around the other paper.
Flip and do the same to the other paper.
Open the papers and stack them.
Make 2 more such templates for 6 pieces.

Now take all the 6 pieces and glue them together as in Jackson cube.

This makes 1 cube. Repeat these steps for making more cubes.
Make many of them as they will be sabotaged more often.

Use stickers or stencils or free hand drawing to write letters on the cubes.
You can also use newspaper cuttings to decorate the cubes(this I just now thought of while writing the ible, so no pics).
You can also pre draw them and assemble them afterwards.

If your toddler tears or chews the boxes. Make another one to replace the damaged piece.
