I came up with this idea for Halloween, because I like punny costumes and wanted to make my costume. I spent about $10 on this costume, and people loved it!

Gather Materials

For this costume, you'll need:

2 (or more) rubber chickens*

1 white t-shirt

1 needle

1 spool of white thread

1 black foam board

1 utility knife

1 hot glue gun

1 can red spray paint

1 can grey spray paint

1 can white spray paint

1 pencil

*Mine were rubber dog toys. These had the added benefit of squeaking when squeezed, to make this costume interactive! You can also use marshmallow peeps.

Draw Magnet

Draw a stereotypical horseshoe magnet on the black foam board that is just bigger than the subject's back. Make sure to include the bottom part, as well as the line that separates that from the main part.

Cut Magnet

Cut the magnet shape out with a utility knife. Once you are done, I found that using an extremely coarse file works well for cleaning up the edges.

Paint Magnet

Using painter's tape for the different sections, spray-paint your magnet. Once it seems dry, still wait another hour or two, or three for the paint to really get rock hard.

Sew Chickens

Sew the chickens on with the needle and thread. I did three loops around the neck and three loops around each foot for a secure bond.

Glue Magnet

Glue the magnet in a comfortable position on the back of the shirt. Make sure you slather on a lot of glue, as you don't want this to fall off!

Show Off

Well, congrats! You've finished this awesome costume, and people are about to start smiling and laughing at your punny costume. If you liked this Instructable, I'd appreciate a vote. Thanks, and happy chick-magneting!
