Cheesy Sausage ‘N Mac Bites

Let’s be honest, you can’t go wrong with savory sausage and macaroni and cheese. This recipe takes box mac n cheese and elevates it to a grab and go bite that is pure genius. Cheesy sausage and mac bites are the perfect addition to your Super Bowl party, your kid’s lunchbox, or as a side at your next BBQ.

Supplies

Ingredients:
Favorite boxed macaroni and cheese- I used Kraft Deluxe
1 16oz package Jimmy Dean’s ground sausage- mild or hot
Spray olive oil
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup grated Parmesan for garnish

Additional Supplies:
1 sauté pan
1 medium sauce pan
1 colander
1 rubber spatula
1 mini muffin pan
Optional: 24 mini muffin tins



Prepare Macaroni and Cheese According to Box

First, make your macaroni and cheese. In most cases, this will require boiling water, adding the macaroni to cook until tender, and straining the pasta. Add your cheese sauce and stir.

Preheat your oven to 425F.

Cook Ground Sausage

While your water is coming to a boil, begin cooking your ground sausage in a sauté pan on medium high heat. Stir often until meat is brown and cooked through.

Combine Mac N Cheese and Sausage

Add your ground sausage into the macaroni and cheese and stir until it is well mixed.

Assemble Your Bites

Spray your mini muffin pan with olive oil or put a mini muffin tin in each spot. Sprinkle 1Tbs of shredded cheese into each cup. Fill the rest of the cup to the top with the Mac and sausage mixture. Use your spoon to press the mixture down and add a little more in a mound on top. Bake at 425F for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Top with grated Parmesan cheese. Slide a baking spatula or knife around each cup and remove from the muffin tin. If they aren’t coming out easily, allow to cool longer.
