Check Which DNS Server Is Fastest for You
You dont know what DNS is?
DNS stands for Dynamic Name Server. For example when you enter www.facebook.com in your browser it send this URL to DNS. DNS then replies with IP address where facebook is.
In my case IP is 31.13.84.36. But sending URL and receive reply takes some small time which can be further improved by using closer and faster DNS. Because while your PC dosent get reply from DNS it just sits and waits it will do nothing before.
Here you can see how to find best and fastest DNS server for you and your network.
Hope you like tutorial and comments for improving are welcome. Stay tunned here and on youtube for move tutorials in future :)
Step 1: Download Software
You can download required software from the following link
https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm
Step 2: Run Application
Run application and wait till it makes initialization.
After that click on tab named "name servers" and wait till it fetch all available ones for you.
When it finished click on run benchmark and wait. It can take 1-2minutes depending on your network speed.
Step 3: Click on Tabular Data to See Min < Avg < Max Reply Time
On this tab find the one which is fastest for you.
As you can see first one is my local DNS server which is pretty fast. Upcoming tutorial is about own local dns server so you can follow for more information.
Second and third one in list is fastest public DNS and i will use third one 1.1.1.1 for my DNS if my local DNS cant resolve address. For you data may be different so you can use DNS according to your speeds
Bonus Step: Check Conclusion for Tips and Tricks
Here you can see which things are not good and which are good.
As you can see in my place bad thing is that i have only one local DNS server. I intend to fix that with secondary one in my network.
