Cheap and Easy Kitchen Knife Sheaths

Our small knives were a jumble in the silverware drawer. The exposed blades were always a possible source for a cut. I used readily available materials to make a sheath for each knife.

After trimming the side panels from the cereal box, lay the knife next to the chipboard and draw a rectangle of the size you sheath will be making. There will be three panels that will fold over the blade plus a flap at the pointed end of the blade so draw lines to outline the panels as shown in the second photo.

Cut out the sheath as shown in photo three. Bend the material at the lines over a sharp edge of a countertop, the last photo. Fold the long bends of the material over the knife blade and tape them together. Fold the end flap over the sheath and tape it in place. Add more tape as needed.
