Cheap Way to Store Bananas & Keep Them Fresh

IMG_1650.JPG

This is a very cheap, quick and easy way to store your bananas away from your other fruits (If you store your bananas with other fruit, the gas released by those fruits can make your bananas go bad quickly) and it also frees up counter space.

The main reason for this project comes to me from seeing "banana stands" on sale in stores and online for about $10 or more. I thought that price was ridiculous knowing that I could make something that looks just as good for a fraction of that price.

Tools and Hardware

- 3/32" Drill Bit

- (Qty. x 1) 1-1/4" Screw Hook or "Cup Hook" (You can use larger hooks if you want but I wouldn't go any smaller than this size) I think I bought this pack of three hooks at Walmart for about $0.90 but you can get them at hardware stores or order them from Amazon too.

- Power Drill

Drill the Hole

Drill the hole for the hook on the bottom side of your cabinet using a 3/32" drill bit. Make sure you drill into the framing wood of the cabinet rather than the recessed thin wood that is used as the shelf in the middle area.
