Charcoaled Boneless Chicken Tikka With Masala
so let me get started.
i made this today. for like, 1 hour ago. today is my mum's birthday and well dinner will be outside, but what about the lunch?
something light but yummy?
how about a quick chicken? THATS IT! chicken it is :)
i always love the smell of coals in bbq.. but sadly we don't own a bbq machine or ( whatever it is called)
so this is a trick i often do for that aroma :D
hope you enjoy it :)
Ingredients for the Tikka
- i used a packet of tikka masala.. ( i ask you to do the same) or you may simply add the indredients you use for the bbq :)
- lemon juice (1 lemon)
- garlic and ginger paste 1 tb
- boneless chicken breast ( cut in small cubes)
process
mix all the above and let it marinate for 1-2 hours.
Ingredients for the Masala
- 2 medium onions
- 2 tomatoes
- coriander seeds 1/2 tsp
- cumin 1/2 tsp
- chilli powder 1/2 tsp
- garlic ginger paste 1/2 tsp
- turmeric 1 tsp
- paprika 2 tsp
- white pepper 1/2 tsp
- salt.
now mix all the above in a blender and blend nicely
Cooking
Heat some butter or ghee (1/2 cup) in a pan. Once it's hot all in the contents of your blender. Reduce the heat let it reduce for a while. You don't want it to get dry, you just want to drive off some of that liquid.
Once it's thickened up a bit thin it out. I thinned it by mixing fresh cream and milk ( half cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of fresh cream ( milai) mixing it very nicely). you can use half aand half or heavy cream too. but i prefered the organi cream known as milai. it is the cream with gathers on the top when we boil milk and let it cool in the fridge :)
And if you want it more thinner, add some water.
Cooking the Tikka
heat a frying pan ( one which has an airtight lid)
add the tikka spreadding it
now brush the tikka with the oil or ghee coating it. cooking it nicely.
once the chicken is cooked remove the excess oil as shown in the pic ( don't discard it)
Charcoaling
*note* ( keep the lip of the pan handy as e need it in this step)
heat a piece of coal
take out a slice of onion place it on the side of the pan
once the coats heats up nicely place it on top of that onion slice.
pour the oil you seperated in the precious step over the coal and quickly put the lid on the pan. ( don't open it untill serving).
Final Step
once the masala is ready. add the chicken tikka. and sprikle the coriander over on top.
your chicken tikka masala is ready.
