Changing the Water Pump Can Be Easy Dodge V10 Water Pump 2003 Ram 2500 Got to Be One of the Easiest to Do That I Have Seen, Engineering!

A shop wanted $450.00 the parts where $120.00 so $330.00 for labor.

Took me 2 1/2 hours, but I was also making this video. So figure 2 hours of focused time. Or $160.00 an hour seems high to me.

I do have some short cuts in the video to not remove any accessory item and I do not remove the fan shroud.

Double Check It Is a Leaking Pump and Drain Fluid

Fan Loose and Hoses Off

Be careful not to damage the radiator, work hoses slowly to avoid damage

Pump Out and Change Fittings

Remove Belt and Bolts on Pump remove it to the bench, note any pieces you need to move to the new pump and their positions. Take Pictures!

Transfer the Pieces and Place Gasket

Sealer is not required for the "O" ring used a little to hold it in place during installation

Pump in Hoses On

Torque pump per manufacturer's specs every car is different

Fill and Look for Leaks

Used old window wash bottles to hold antifreeze we drained, you could use new if you want. Look for leaks.


WARNING remove the rag you used to protect the radiator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
