  • While the car is on the ground loosen the wheel nuts. You will need to loosen the lock nut first as the other nuts will not loosen until the lock nut is out. You do not need to completely take them out at this stage. By loosening the nuts now it will avoid the car coming off the jack when it is raised up.
  • Position the car jack at the same side of the car with the puncture wheel. There is a specific jack point in the undercarriage of the car. It is important to locate this as the jack will be holding the weight of the whole car. You will find the location in the owners manual

  • Turn the handle in the car jack to raise the car 20 cm from the ground. You do not need to raise it over this amount as you only need enough height to take off the wheel and put another one on. Too much height is dangerous
  • Completely take out the nuts of the wheel and put them on the ground beside you within easy reach.

Now take off the wheel by using both your hands and pulling straight out. Put the puncture tyre flat on the road beside you for now.

Put on the spare tyre aligning it up with the nut holes. Put on the nuts one by one in a criss cross pattern so that the tyre is secure on the car. You do not need to tighten the nuts at this point.

Lower the Car to the Ground

Lower the car onto the ground and use your wrench to fully tighten the nuts, again starting with the lock nut.

Place the puncture tyre in the boot along with the other equipment. Make sure the tyre pressure is correct in the spare tyre. Bring the tyre to the garage to fix it. You must always have a spare wheel in the boot.
