Start the Car & Block the Tires

Jack the Car

Loosen Drain Plug

Put the oil pan under that location about 4-6 inches from the hole, since oil may shoot out. Before removing the drain plug, protective gloves are essential to wear to protect hands. Also, don’t not drop drain plug into oil pan, otherwise it is tough to find it in the messy, sticky, dirty, black liquid. Loosen drain plug by using right sized wrench (counter-clockwise). Don’t forget to put and tight the drain plug back.
Replace Oil Filter
Replacing oil filter could be difficult. Wearing protective gloves is a good idea to protect hands and arms. If the old filter is too tight, it is necessary to use strap wrench to take it off. Before getting off the old filter, put oil pan under the old filter. Be careful to take old filter off with whole parts and remember the process. Don’t just throw the old filter right away. Leave it up on its side for at least 24 hours before throwing it away. Then use some new oil to lubricate a new filter before stocking the new filter back. This step help put the new filter back easily. Right now, changing oil is almost done without the last step.
Add New Oil
