Time to change the engine oil and filter in my car. The stuff needed:
Ratchet with 17mm socket.
4 quarts synthetic oil.
Oil filter.
Oil catch pan.

Read on for how I did this in less than 15 minutes. After each step I wished my hands using engine degreaser.

Draining the Oil.

I put the catch pan under the drain plug then removed the plug. Thick black oil came out.

I can easily reach the filter from on top the engine. I carefully unscrewed it and turned it downward to let residual oil fall into the catch pan.

Installing the New Filter.

I put a layer of fresh oil on the rubber gasket of the new filter. Next I screwed on the filter onto the engine to hand tight.

Removing the Old Oil.

See the old oil? I properly disposed of it and reinstalled the drain plug. It is important not to over tighten the plug to prevent stripping of the threads.

I carefully poured the 4 quarts into the engine. Now the car is ready for the road! Actually I degreased and washed the engine bay. My SOHC engine has no problem with a wash down. Definitely won't do that with DOHC engines like in my wife's car.

I hope this instructable has been helpful!
