Every once in a while we take our kids to Grandma's house to stay the night. But my parents don't have a TV, so we bring ours and that way we can have a break while the kids go crazy. I built an entertainment center at my house and it can be a pain to get the TV down and put it back up again. Too many cords to deal with. The most annoying one is the power cord because it does not disconnect at the back of the TV.

What I want to do is cut the cord and replace the connector so I can leave a power cord connected to my mount and keep another one handy that I can take to my parents house. I found a connector in an old laptop transformer brick. It took a little work and a big hammer but I got the connector out and I am ready to put it in my TV.

Once the TV was on the table, getting it open was pretty easy. There are some big capacitors here so BE CAREFUL! I found the connector I wanted was just a little bigger than the hole left by the old cord, so I would have to do some trimming. But luckily the power cord is very accessible and the clip will make this easy.

I cut the old cord and soldered it to my new connector. Once I got it in I noticed that it needed to be trimmed a little. One quick swipe with an Olfa knife and we are ready to put it back together.

All finished looks good, I put it up and works great. I didn't take any pictures of it mounted again, because once I was finished I packed it up in the car to go to Grandma's house. Also while it is on the wall, you can't tell a difference.
