Change Your Headphone's Battery

In this project, I will show you how to change the battery of your wireless headphones. If you have a set, I am pretty sure that you can notice the decline of the battery life over time. When it gets to the point where every charge lasts less than 1h then the battery has reached its end. You can get a new set of headphones which is costly and will add waste to the enviromnet. OR, you can try to change the battery.

Even though the process is simple, those electronics components are very delicate so please proceed at your own risk.

1. New battery
2. Soldering iron
3. Pliers
4. Screwdriver

The first step is to open your headphones and have a look at the battery. I actually had to open both sides to find the battery. Of course, every brand is going to be different so you have to figure it out.

When you get to the original battery, please note down these information to buy a replacement one

1. The size

As you see in my photo the first code YJ602540 is the size of the battery (60x25x40mm). You may not find the exact same size but it should be more or less around those numbers to fit in the place.

1. The capacity (the second number on the photo 600mAh)

You can get the same or larger capacity for the headphone to function properly

With those values, you can buy your battery online.

When you receive the new battery, it's time to give your headphones a new life.

Repeat what you did before, open the headphones and remove the old battery. You will need to cut off the battery wires (usually in the red and black colors) one by one. DO NOT cut them at the same time because you can create short circuit.

You can see the difference between the old and the new battery I got.

Then we can solder the new battery. Pay attention to the cable's colors or you can damage the whole circuit.

Before closing it, make sure that you check the voltage provided by the battery. Mine is 3.88V which is good for a 3.7V battery (fully charged)
