Cell-2-Cool

Does your cell phone get warm while charging or with excess usage? Well, that heat will shorten the life of your battery over time. I came up with an instructi
able to help with that possible problem.  In this Instructable, I repurposed a Peltier cooling system used in a portable drink cooler. Let's go check it out...

Parts

Peltier cooler
Switch
Small fan
Power source, 12vdc
Hot Glue
Quick Steel
Assorted Misc. other things

Step 1

I mounted a metal plate to the cooling side of the Peltier. This is where the cell phone will rest.

Step 2

Mounted small fan to remove heat caused by the Peltier.

Step 4

Soldered power wires to switch and mounted it to the plate.

I installed a power lead tail for easy connect because the power source is my test bench power.

Step 5

The feet installed to elevate device for air flow came from my Dremmel tool. They are polishing pads that I have never used.

Cell-2-Cool is ready for business

The plate gets really cold. Some sweanting does occur but not where the phone contacts the plate.

I have noticed the phone holds a longer charge. Did not expect that.
