I hand painted this simple shirt with 3D-liners (they can be used for textile, paper, wood, glass and metal). After finishing the whole process, the shirt is ironed to fix the colors and the garment is hand washable at 40 degrees Celsius.

Materials

You will need:
- about 1m plain fabric, 140cm wide (I used blend jersey)
- a shirt (blouse) pattern of your choice
- scissors
- some cardboard for making the pattern for drawing / painting
- 3D liners (markers for drawing contours)
- sewing machine, thread
- iron

Cutting the Fabric

Lay your fabric on a flat surface (big table or floor), folded in half, with the right side inside. Put the chosen pattern on the fabric, pin it and cut out with scissors, making sure you leave about 1.5cm seam allowance.

Cardboard Pattern & Drawing

Choose a picture you would like to have on your garment and make a copy of it on the cardboard. Cut out the contours, as shown in the pictures. You can then use either pattern to draw inside or outside of it. I made the drawing by filling in the inside lines as it seemed easier to me.
After drawing the basic lines using your cardboard pattern, remove the cardboard carefully and paint the details freehand.
Let the drawing air dry for at least 6 hours, then iron it to fix the color. After this procedure, your shirt will be hand washable at 40 degrees C.

Sewing

Using your sewing machine, first sew the hems on the head and arms openings of each panel. Next sew the shoulder and side seams of the blouse. Cut one stripe (length of your hips, and about 15cm wide) for lower edge and sew it to the blouse. Iron all the seams and you are ready to go and show off!
Here you can see another version of the same blouse but with longer sleeves.
