Cat Scratching Post

Just like most cats, my cat loves to scratch at anything he can! The wall, the door, the chair, but I want a scratch-free household so I made him a Cat Scratching Post and you can make you kitty one too!

I had lots of old boxes lying around, so I found the boxes that were in the best conditions! If you don't have boxes just lying around, you can ask different stores for them or you can buy sheets of cardboard at your local art supply store!

I took the box's to my maker space and cut out a bunch a squares using a laser cutter. This is where your design freedom comes in and you can make the size of your Cat Scratching Post any size you want!

ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION: If you do not have access to a laser cutter, you can also do this with a box cutter almost as fast, but I'm lazy so I used a laser cutter.

Take your pieces that you just cut out and glue them together. I use a simple, cheap school glue. Once everything is glued clamp it all together to make sure the pieces stay! If you do not have access to clamps, you can use quite a few heavy, large books to put on top of your piece to make sure the different cardboard pieces stick together!

After the glue is done drying, I gave the scratching post to my cat with a treat and sprinkled some catnip on the cat scratching post. He loves it and I love no more scratched up furniture! Plus it was super cheap to make! Hope you and your cat enjoy!
