Cat Condo (DIY)
The cat condo is a homemade feline bed that is made from recycled materials. Its main structure comes from a cardboard box, which is a favorite item for most cats. It provides the perfect place for your feline to take naps in throughout the day.
Supplies
- 2 wire hangers
- Pliers
- Duct tape
- Circular object (ex: bowl)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Marker
- Cat bedding
- Safety pins
- 4XL T-Shirt
- Cardboard box (16 ½ x 18 ½ inches)
Cut a Hole on One Side of the Cardboard Box
Use the scissors to cut the box. You can prepare the box to your liking. I cut off the flaps of the box to make later steps easier.
Reinforce the Box
Reinforce certain areas of the box, you find flimsy, with duct tape.
Cut the Hangers
Use the pliers to cut the hooks off the wire hangers.
Bend the Wires
Bend both wires into a trapezoid shape.
Build the Roof of the Condo
Poke a hole, with the wire, on an inside corner of the box, four inches down from the edge. Repeat this action on the opposite corner.
Finish the Roof
Grab the second wire and repeat the process in step 5.
Bind the Wires
Use duct tape to bind the wires to each other at the center. It should make a 'X' shape as shown in figure 15.
Put the Shirt Over the Box
Pull the shirt over the box and place the head hole over the hole that was cut out in step one.
Secure the Excess Pieces of the Shirt
Use safety pins, indicated by the white circles, to fasten loose ends of the shirt against the box.
Place Cat Bedding
Place cat bedding inside the box. I overlapped the cat bedding to ensure the entire bottom was covered.
