Hi everyone!

We are getting through hard times. Besides this pandemic disease, staying at home can be challenging. The best way to have a healthy mind is entertaining ourselves. Wouldn't it be fun doing your chess set? Special design for you. Only you will have this chess set. And do you know what is the interesting part? It is made of CARROT! Unfortunately, you can't eat your enemy really, but you can keep the chess pieces for a long time. So let's have a look at how you can make your carrot chess!

Supplies

  • 6-7 long purple carrots
  • 6-7 long orange carrots
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Varnish (optional)

Step1: Preparing the Base Shape

First, cut the tips of the carrots and peel them. Then cut the carrots into pieces. You can find the dimensions in the file. But you can adjust the proportions according to the length of your carrots.

Cut the sides of the carrot pieces while making the possible biggest square. After that, you are going to make a truncated pyramid. Be aware of different pieces has different pyramids.

Step 2: Customizing Pieces

Step 4: Transformation

You will observe the change in your chess pieces day by day. They will be solid after 6-7 days. But they will completely dry after 2 weeks. After they dried you can apply varnish on them. Preferably after 6 days applying varnish would be a better choice. Because their colors become lighter as days pass.

Little Tips

After they dried you can give some characteristic features as I did. I made a crown shape with two cuts on the king piece. But you should know that they become really hard.

As they dry, they will start to turn. While they are in this process since they are still soft, you can make little changes as you want. For instance, if they are too much bend you can straighten them.

DON'T THROW AWAY THE EXCESS CARROT PIECES! You can make cakes, desserts, salads and more delicious meal from them or you can just eat them like me. :)

Enjoy Your Chess Set!!!
