Super Easy cardboard duct tape pirate sword. My 6 year old son loved this addition to his Halloween costume. He has continued to use it all year. Supplies are most likely already in your house.

Supplies

Duct tape (silver, black, and blue)
Cardboard box
Dowel (16 inch length with a 3/8 inch diameter)
Ruler
Utility knife
Hot glue gun
Template for the shape of the sword

Draw the shape of your sword on a piece of paper. Images of my drawing and measurements are included in the pictures. Cut out your template. Trace onto two pieces of cardboard. Cut each tracing out using a utility knife.

Shape cardboard around the wooden dowel. Having the dowel in the middle gives it a 3D appearance. Glue the dowel to the center of the blade cutout leaving 4 1/2 in. of dowel extended from the base of the cardboard cutout. Hot Glue second cutout on the other side of the dowel. The dowel should now be encased between the two cardboard pieces.

Use use 4 - 5 inch pieces of silver duct tape to wrap the blade. Place the tape on one side of the blade and wrap towards the cutting edge. Pull the tape tightly around the cutting edge to make it look like a blade. The back side doesn’t need to be wrapped as tightly. Cover the entire blade.
