Cardboard Pyramid With Secret Compartment

This simple cardboard pyramid, on the exterior, looks like nothing more than a cardboard decoration for your mantel. But on the inside, it could contain a fortune! Easy to construct, this burglar-proof hiding compartment, can be built in less than an hour. So gather your supplies, and let's get started.

Supplies

  • Cardboard
  • Utility Knife
  • Hot Glue
  • Pen
  • Ruler

Making the Base

Cut a cardboard square, with sides measuring 8-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches. Using a ruler and pen, draw bricks on one side of the base measuring 1 inch by 1/2 inch. Cut out a random section on the base, following the lines of the bricks.

Making the Sides

Cut four equal triangles, with sides measuring 8-1/2 inches. Hot glue them to the base to form a pyramid.

Adding Sand

Take your model outside. Cover it with a mixture of 1 part water, and 2 parts school glue. Then sprinkle sand heavily over the surface to make it look more realistic.
