Cardboard Model Harley-Davidson Motorcycle

Hi Instructables friends!. So recently I was looking at some images from "Terminator 2 judgment day" and the terminator was riding a 1991 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Then I thought in my mind "I have a cardboard box lying around, I can make my very own Harley-Davidson!" yes! TRASH TO TREASURE!.

So... here it is and I will show you how I made it so that you can make your own, and by the way, these techniques go for any bike that you choose to make.

Oh and this is great because everyone has a cardboard box lying around!

• Utility knife
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Barbeque skewer
• Exacto knife (for small parts)

AND THE MATERIALS...

• Brown paper
• Cardboard
• Elmers glue

So the first step in all motorcycle builds is to start from the chassis So to do that I took brown packaging paper and rolled it around a barbeque skewer as thin as I could. to make about 4 rolls and later on if you need more you can always make some.

So once you have the paper tubes you can begin to put the frame together. To do this look at reference images. (which I have provided above).

Now make the front forks by following the reference image above. Next, bend the handlebars to any style you want I went for the basic tracker style handlebar.

Then I glued a triangle to the frame and attached the fork assembly to it.

Now it is time for the powerhouse of the whole bike: the engine. So to make this part cut out the shape that I put above (you might have to resize it for the size of your model) and then wrap some cardboard around it to make a solid shape.

for the two parts, on top cut a bunch of small squares and stack them to make the typical v-twin look.

Now we have the basic shape of our engine we can add the clutch and some basic detailing. as shown above. And as always look at the images above. But keep in mind we can not exactly replicate the real engine with cardboard but we can do our best. And even mine does not look like the real engine.

Now you can install the engine in the frame. your model should look somewhat like mine at this point.

Now I made boxes and glued them on either side of the engine. At this point, you can add any other detailing you see fit.

For the gas tank, I cut out a half-heart shape and stacked them from big to smaller to make a layered shape.

Now we can make the seat by cutting out the shape above and bending it to shape by hand. Then glue a short roll of cardboard under it and connect it to the back of the frame. Now is also the time to connect the gas tank as shown.

I made a small roll of cardboard and glued it to the front for a headlight.

We are nearly done now. make the wheels by rolling a thin strip of cardboard tightly around something cylindrical. Then cut a round circle and put it inside of the doughnut shape you just made. and glue it on the rear of the frame to do the same for the front.

lastly, I added some small rectangles and circles to the handlebars for the knobs, dials, and accelerator.

Done! it was not too easy but it was worth it. I am so happy with this model, now the only thing left for me to make is the terminator to ride it!.
