Cardboard Lantern

For this time's project, I'm going to recreat a Cardboard Lantern, which I get the idea from "spikytuna" (https://www.instructables.com/Cardboard-Shoji-Lantern/). I'm going to add a big base for my lantern, where I can put my Arduino board. Also, I will be adding 0.1 min in every delay that's used in the coding part, which I think it will make it look better by solwing down the pase of the LED light.

Supplies

  • Cardboard
  • Thin paper
  • Glue / tape
  • Cutter
  • Ruler
  • Pen
  • Arduino Board
  • WS2812B

Making the Lantern

We are first going to make the lantern, whcih requires cardboard, cutter, tape, ruler and pen. First, cut 2 cardboard square (10 cm by 10 cm), after this, cut a 6 cm by 6 cm little square in one of the bigger square. Next, cut four 16 cm by 10 cm rectangle, with 8 cm by 8 cm square in the top, and two 8 cm by 1 cm rectangle at the bottom.

After cutting the cardboard, tape the thin paper on to the window of all cardboard. Finally, glue all the pieces together.

Attach LED Light

Now, prepare some paper and roll it into a stick, then attach the LED onto the stick and place it in the middle of the lantern.

Coding

LED Lanterns

The coding that we used is modified by FastLED's Fire2012, in which we changed the color and gets the code from "spicytuna" (https://www.instructables.com/Cardboard-Shoji-Lantern/).
