Cardboard Hanging Crib
This is a hanging cradle made of cardboard. Its environmentally-friendly design significantly reduces environmental impact by utilizing sustainable materials. This spectacular cradle provides vestibular stimulation and comfort for the newborn, while protecting them from insects by avoiding contact with the ground. Additionally, this project offers future parents a cost-effective and collaborative opportunity, positively impacting family dynamics.
Supplies
Four cardboard rectangles (60x40 cm)
Eight cardboard rectangles (30x40 cm)
Eight cardboard rectangles (110x45 cm)
Newspaper
Homemade glue
Cutter
Acrylic paint
Pencil
Measuring tape
Glue the 4 cardboard rectangles (60x40 cm) together.
Glue 4 cardboard rectangles (30x40 cm) together.
Glue another set of 4 cardboard rectangles (30x40 cm) together.
Glue 4 of the cardboard rectangles (110x45 cm) together.
Glue the remaining 4 cardboard rectangles (110x45 cm) together.
Prepare two wooden sticks (broom handles) of 50 cm each.
Cut the 2 panels (110x45 cm) into the desired shape. In my case, it was a dragon.
Once dry, glue these rectangles as shown in the picture, using the large rectangles as the sides and the small ones for the cradle floor. Create a 30-degree inclination with the 30 cm panels and let them dry with a counterweight.
Start gluing strips of newspaper to cover the entire piece and let it dry.
Paint the cradle with the colors and patterns of your desired design.
Make two holes and place the wooden sticks at the front and back.
Attach the rope to the wooden sticks for hanging.
Place blankets or quilts inside the cradle to cushion it and prevent the baby from turning face down.
