Printout of Bus

To make the process easy, the layout of the bus is provided in the attachment, which you can download and print on an A4 sheet. This makes the steps easier: simply download and print the layout, then start crafting.

Just paste the printout on the cardboard. Using a precision knife (caution: adult supervision is required while using the knife), cut the cardboard and remove the unwanted parts.

Fixing the Window

Take the OHP sheet and cut it according to the size of the windows. Ensure the pieces fit precisely within the window openings. Once cut, paste the OHP sheet onto the window areas using strong glue. Allow the glue to dry completely to ensure the OHP sheet is securely attached. After the OHP sheet is firmly in place, cover the edges with a 1 mm thick cardboard sheet to give the windows a neat and finished look.

Next, mark just below the front side and back side of the bus frame with a pen. These marks will indicate where the LEDs will be fixed. Carefully cut out the marked sections to create slots for the LEDs. Ensure the slots are the appropriate size to hold the LEDs securely.

Build the Chassis

Since the chassis is the fundamental part of all vehicles, whether motorized or non-motorized, building the chassis requires special care.

Mark a line 2 inches from the front end and 3 inches from the back end for the axle.

Take an old ballpoint pen case of about 6 inches and cut it into two halves of about 3 inches each.

Attach the axle to the chassis using strong glue.

Mark 0.875 inches from the axle line on both sides (totaling 1.75 inches) and remove the marked section for the wheel space.

Place the battery holder and switch on the chassis and mark their dimensions.

Remove the marked area and attach the holder and switch using glue.

Primary Frame Assembly

front and side assembly.jpg

Attach the front and side frames to the chassis using strong glue. Make sure to align the edges accurately to ensure a proper fit. Hold and adjust the frames for a few minutes, ensuring they adhere to the chassis in a straight line. This step is crucial to maintain the structural integrity and overall appearance of the bus.

Once the glue has dried and the frames are securely attached, check all connections to ensure they are firm. If necessary, add extra glue to any areas that seem loose or unstable. Allow the assembly to sit undisturbed for a few hours to let the glue cure completely.

After the frames are firmly in place, you can start adding other components such as the roof and any decorative elements you desire. Make sure each piece is securely attached and properly aligned to maintain the bus's structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Electrical Connections

Who wants a bus without lights? Let's make it glow!

We've got 4 bright white LEDs for the headlights and 2 intense red LEDs for the danger lights. Each LED is hooked up with an 18-ohm quarter-watt resistor to keep the current just right (that's the longer leg of the LED).

Check out the electrical layout diagram—it shows you exactly how to connect everything to the battery and switch.

Follow the diagram carefully to bring your bus to life with lights!

Wheel It Out!

Ensure all components are well-maintained to prevent any complications.

Cut out four wheels with a diameter of 1.25 inches, including their respective wheel plates.

Prepare the wheel shaft by cutting an old ballpoint pen refill to a length of 3.75 inches.

Seats Are Comfortable

For a cozy journey, fashion seats from leftover cardboard scraps!

Grab those leftover cardboard pieces or use new ones to cut out seats of equal length, about 9 (to match the number of windows).

Take each cardboard piece, paste white cardboard on it for a clean finish, and glue the seats evenly spaced apart, matching the window layout.

Complete the Body Assembly

Just slide the seat assembly onto the chassis, supporting it with small cardboard pieces glued to the chassis structure. Secure everything with extra glue at the corners.

Next, cover the open sides of the frame. Almost there!

Carry the Decorators

Cover the top of the bus and dive into decorating—it's where the magic happens to give your bus that authentic touch.

For the front, create a 1-inch counter just like the front section you've already built.

Craft sleek side mirrors, each just 1 inch in size, to add a touch of realism.

Now, here's where you can get really creative: add your own unique cargo setup. This is what transforms your bus from ordinary to extraordinary!

Don't skip this step—it's what makes your bus truly stand out and captivate attention.
