Welcome to car seat safety! In this instructable I will show you how to install a car seat and how to secure a child in the car seat.

Selecting the Right Strap Path

Choose the Right Recline Level

There are certain levels for the direction which a child is facing. Make sure your seat in the right level category and is comfortable for your child.

Locating the Anchor Strap

Each car seat manufacturers anchor straps will look different. However, they will all have some sort of clip to secure to the anchor bar.

Securing the Anchor Strap

Tightening Anchor Straps

Pull up on the strap until it is tightened to the best of your ability.

Securing Rear Anchor Strap (if Applicable)

Movement Test

It is important to perform the movement test to make sure the car seat is secure enough. If the car seat moves more than 1" won't perform properly in the event of a crash.

Buckle the Chest Clip

Make sure all straps are straight and untangled. Any twists could lead to a defect in the ability to protect a child in the event of an accident.

Buckle the Lap Buckles

Most car seats have a 5 point harness. It is important to have each buckle secure for optimal protection.

Tighten Straps and Secure the Child
