September 16th, is the independence day in Mexico (YUP, NOT MAY 5TH). And, what would it be better that mexican food and drink to celebrate?

"Cantarito" o "Un cantarito" is a delicious mexican cocktail served and drunk mainly in Jalisco, Mexico. What makes this cocktail so special is not only the great flavor but the craftsmanship on it: juice from local fruits is fresh and extracted by hand, tequila is made in Jalisco, and the cocktail is served in a handmade barro (local clay) jar.

This instructable will guide you to make a replica of the traditional "Cantarito" using original ingredients and proportions. This post intended to allow people around the globe to replicate the experience of drinking a "cantarito" like if they were in Guadalajara,Jalisco. However, as barro jars are not available in all countries and regular glasses or mugs do not provide the real experience from "cantarito", the best approach is without questions a Mason Jar.

Supplies

For 1 person/jar

  • Mason Jar

You can also use white tequila if you prefer. But I recommend to use Añejo.

Fill the Rest of Jar With Grapefruit Soda.

In Mexico we usually use Freska or Squirt, but any grapefruit soda will do.
