In this Instructables, I am presenting a simple 3D printable pattern that can be used on flat surfaces mimicking the shape of a fairly widely used rattan cane braiding pattern.

This pattern is flat on one side in order to be easily printed on either resin or FDM printers, it is a fairly simple pattern that good looking by itself but extremely attractive when multiplied.

Supplies

3D printer (FDM or resin)

In this instructable I am using this pattern to make a soap dish with the pattern itself being useful to permit the soap to dry, but you can use this pattern for just decorative purposes even if you do not need air or water to pass through.

Application Example 2

I also made a negative silicon mold out of this pattern (through the use of high resolution resin printer) and I was able to cast plaster into it, as you can see on the picture below, the plaster got caught in between the tighter parts of the pattern and I had some bubbles, but the result still looks quite good (looks even better in person).

Future Applications

One thing that could be nice would be to make a negative plaster mold for porcelain casting (the design has no undercuts making it quite suitable for porcelain mold making), decorative porcelain object in this pattern could look especially good.
