This is a bracelet made from Starburst wrappers. The idea and this instructable was created by my 11 year old daughter who loves this site and wanted to contribute her ideas. She took all the pictures with her Nikon Coolpix camera and then added text to each picture. I enhanced the verbage a bit.

By using the wrappers she is being environmentally conscious by eliminating waste while creating a unique, extremely inexpensive and simple piece of accessory to wear. She has already made these bracelets for other kids at her school who wanted one after they saw hers.

List of Materials

DSCN0367.JPG
Any type of yarn/string, 3/4" width Scotch tape, pin, scissors, and 4 colors of your favorite Starburst wrappers.

Folding the Wrappers

DSCN0368.JPG
Fold the wrappers into 1/8th sections then unfold them. I chose this size so it evenly fills the Scotch tape size that I used.

Cutting the Wrappers

DSCN0369.JPG
Cut 2/8th strips off of each wrapper. The reason I did it this way is because for me it was easier to cut them in half as shown in the next step. Otherwise, I suppose you could just cut an 1/8th off each wrapper to save time. Or you can see it as ending up with enough strips to make 2 bracelets. One for you and one for your best friend.

Additional Cutting of the Wrappers

DSCN0371.JPG
Cut each of the 2/8th sized strips in half.

Cutting the Scotch Tape and Beginning Assembly

DSCN0372.JPG
Cut a piece of Scotch tape a little longer in length than the 1/8th strips. Place a strip lengthwise starting on one edge of the tape.

Continuation of Step 5

DSCN0373.JPG
Continue placing your other strips next to each other until all the sticky part of the tape is covered with the wrappers. You want to make sure no sticky part of the tape is exposed.

Trim to Size

DSCN0375.JPG
Trim off the excess parts of tape on each end. This completes the bracelet. Next you'll be preparing this piece to attach the string so you can tie it to your wrist.

Preparing Piece for Attachment String

DSCN0376.JPG
Fold each end of the bracelet down like the picture below. Very carefully use your scissors to puncture a small hole in the middle of each fold. By the way, don't run with scissors.

Tying the String

DSCN0377.JPG
Tie the yarn/string to the pin. Now use the pin to pull the yarn/string through both holes. Like the picture shown.

Fit to Size

DSCN0378.JPG
Put your hand through the opening of the bracelet and yarn/string. Ask someone to tie the string to your adjustment.
