Candy Jars
I made these simple candy jars for my wife's birthday. I let the kids pick out what we put in the jars.
Gather Up Your Supplies
For this you will need some variation of the following:
- Glass Jars
- Paint (I used latex)
- Painter's Tape
- Stencils
- Pencil
- Box Cutter
- Paint Brush
- Nail Polish Remover
- Q-tips
Create Your Letters
Cover the face of your jar with a few strips of painter's tape. You need it to cover the area where you letter or design will be.
Trace the stencil onto the tape. Then use the box cutter to cut out letter out. I had to move my leters a few times to get them centered and even.
Paint
Paint as much of the jar as you want to . Make sure you paint over the stencil so the cutout is covered well. I did not paint the bottom, I also did not paint the threads. I added three coats so it was well covered.
I used a pewter gray in case the kids wanted to paint a design or add stickers. It also is a neutral color so it could go anywhere in my house.
Fill the Jars
My kids picked peanut butter M&M's since my wife loves them. They are a good choice since they are brightly colored and stand out in the letters. Any brightly colored trinket or snack would look good.
