Candy Chocolate Bark

Candy chocolate bark is like having the ultimate candy bar. You get tasty candy bars that you love mixed with a smooth chocolate base. You really can't make candy bars better than this (except for maybe Candy Bar Brownies).

What you need will depend on what you like! Use your favorite candy bars and chocolates. I'm going to list how much I used of each to give you an idea of amounts. Buy what you need or use leftover Halloween candy!

Ingredients:

  • about 12oz of Chocolate - I used semi-sweet, but use what you like best
  • 1/2 block White Chocolate - I used this mostly for decoration. I melted 1 whole block but only used about half
  • Candy!
    • 3 mini Snickers (this is smaller than "Fun Size" I actually didn't realize they were this small when I bought them, but it still worked out just fine)
    • 3 mini Milky Way
    • 3 mini 3 Musketeers
    • 3 mini Twix
    • Half a Kit Kat Bar
    • Half a Butterfingers
    • Half a Cookies and Cream Hershey Bar (I wanted to lighten up the chocolate bark a bit)
    • Full tube of mini M&Ms
  • Optional: Orange Gel Coloring for the white chocolate, if you want your bark to be even more Halloween-themed

Utensils:

  • Supplies to melt chocolate - I used just a glass measuring cup
  • Sharpe knife and cutting board
  • Wax Paper or Baking Mat
  • Cookie Sheet - to put everything on so you can move the chocolate bark around if you need to

Other Suggested Candies

  • Sixlets - good for added color
  • Reese's Pieces - good for Halloween colors
  • 100 Grand Bars
  • Almond Joy
  • Baby Ruth
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cup
  • Rolos

To get started, just cut up your candy (if you use full-size M&Ms and you want them smaller, put them in a zip lock and smash them up a bit).

All of my candy cut well except the Butterfingers which really liked to crumble. But, I liked how it added some messiness to the chocolate bark and since it was orange, it went more with the Halloween-theme.

Time to get everything layered.

Layer 1: Melted semi-sweet chocolate; spread this out so it is as thick or thin as you want it.

Layer 2: Chopped up candy; spread it out and make sure you push it down into the chocolate so it stays, it's okay if you push through, it should still look fine.

Layer 3: Sprinkle mini M&Ms; again, tap them down a little. Since they are smaller, they might get swallowed up if you push them into the melted chocolate too much. I didn't tap mine down well and they all wanted to pop off when it was hard.

Layer 4: Drizzle your white chocolate (possibly died orange) over the top of your bark.

Let it harden. I throw mine in the fridge for a while to harden it, but you should be able to leave it out. It will take a while at room temp to get hard.

Break/Cut and Enjoy

Once it is hard, you can break it (or cut it) into the size pieces you want and enjoy.
