Can You SOLDER a Copper Joint With a MINI-TORCH?

Alright so I thought it would be a cool idea to put this little gadget to the test, they claim you could do “household repairs” which to me sounds like soldering, so that’s exactly what I’m gonna try and do with it today.

A normal plumbing torch could reach a maximum temperature of around 2000°C or 3600°f and this little guy only get’s up to 1300°C or 2400°f which leads to thinking, will this mini torch really work?

The only way to find out is to try it so, what I have in front of me is a ready to solder joint, both the fitting and pipe have been cleaned and fluxed, the only thing left to do is to heat it up and apply the solder.

So let’s light’er up and start soldering.

As always, start heating from the bottom and work your way up. On the torch’s packaging, they say not to use the torch for more than 5 minutes so we’ll keep it safe and try to get this joint done in under 5.

So obviously, this took a lot longer than it should, but considering its size and a price tag of 5$, this little gadget did the job just fine.

Now, this test wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t test the joint, so here goes nothing…
