Can You Dance Like the Irish??
HEY! Do you want to impress your friends? Do you know how to dance? If not, this is for you. Learning how to do an Irish jig can be really cool. It's easy and fun, and you can teach it to your friends!
Supplies
For this Instructable, you only need yourself. But make sure you understand what the HEEL and TIP of your feet look like. Memorize the picture above!
Beginning Pose
- Stand up straight, and have your feet about a foot apart.
Right Side
2. Put your right HEEL, to the TIP of your left foot's big toe.
3. Then cross your right foot and put the TIP of your foot next to your left HEEL.
4. Put your right HEEL back on your left TIP.
5. Then come back in that beginning pose (feet one foot apart, standing straight).
Left Side
6. Then do the same thing, but with your other foot. Put your left HEEL, to the TIP of your right foot's big toe.
7. Then put your left foot across your right leg and put the TIP of your foot next to your right HEEL.
8. Put your left HEEL back on your right TIP.
9. Then come back in that beginning pose (feet one foot apart, standing straight).
Jump
10. Then once you keep doing this over and over again, and your confident you can easily do it, add a bounce to it. So........JUMP while your putting your right HEEL to your left TIP of your toe....JUMP while your right TIP is on your left HEEL.
Arm-work
11. Then once you feel confident with THAT, we are going to add arms. There are two poses. Practice the pose shown in the picture above, while JUMPING and doing the footwork.
Arm-work
12. Our second arm pose is shown in the picture above. Do this pose while JUMPING and doing the footwork.
Arm-work
13. Then, to add all the arms together, you are going to pose your arms just like the first picture, and do the RIGHT FOOTWORK ONLY. Then, pose your arms like the second picture, and do the LEFT FOOTWORK ONLY. As you may see, we switch our arms every time we switch our feet. So, practice this as long as you need.
Final Step
14. Once you feel comfortable with that, you can start turning. This is OPTIONAL, but encourage because it is way more fun. While doing the whole dance moves, turn to your LEFT. This may seem complicated, but go slow first, then speed up when you get more confident.
DONE
Then your done!!!!! Now you can impress your friends at the next party.
