Camping Pancakes
Pancakes are an easy breakfast to make and are popular with most people. This makes them a perfect choice for cold camping mornings. "Just add Water" Pancakes in a "Shake to Mix" container is not my original Idea. Bisquick has an excellent, store ready version that works well. I wanted a cheaper, home-made version that works just as well.
Gather and Prep
First you need to Gather your ingredients and prepare them for the camping trip.
you will need:
- "Just add water" pancake mix
- Water
- Sport Bottle
- Bottle of Water
You will need to place the measured amount of pancake mix in the plastic Sport Bottle, I usually have to use a paper funnel to get the mix in with out making a big mess. Place the correct measured amount of water in the bottle of water. If you want multiple days of pancakes you can draw lines on the water bottle for each serving. You will probably need to keep the multiple servings of pancake mix in seperate Sport bottles.

Mix and Shake Vigorously
Add the Water to he sport bottle, Put the lid on the bottle (Make sure it is on tight), Shake the sport bottle Vigorously.
Pour, Bake and Flip
Pour Mix into hot pan, let it bake then Flip to bake the other side. At this point it is just like any other batch of pancakes!!
Serve and Eat
Ok! Your done. I have found that playing with the mix will give you a variety of results...use less water, get a thicker mix, the pancakes will be thicker. Use More water, get a thinner mix, thinner pancakes. Another thing I have noticed is that the shaking will leave air bubbles in the mix that will expand as soon as they hit the pan, this will leave one side of your Pancake with many holes. if you let the mix sit for a while after mixing this may help that condition. I have used this for camping a few times and they work well. I have thought of upgrading my Sport bottle to a nice clear plastic bottle with a bigger hole but that defeats the cheap part! I did this with the stuff I had. Good Luck and have Fun!
