Calendar Add-on for Common Quartz Movement
"Day-Date" calendar add-on for common quartz clock movement
Contrary to the wrist watches, clocks with mechanical calendar are hard to find. This 3D-model adds a calendar function which shows the day of the week and date mechanically to a common quartz movement.
- Simple mechanism with less load to the movement
- Convertible between desk and wall clock
- Less parts count (10 parts + optional stand)
- Easy to print (no supports needed)
Supplies
You need
- Quartz clock movement (most popular type, you can find online shops, or extracted from unused clocks)
- 2mm tapping screws
- Double sided adhesive tape
Modify Movement Axis
To securely attach the central gear, modify the axis using a file or craft knife. This step is not mandatory if you can attach the gear without slip. Not too tight, or the minute axis in the outer hour axis is locked by the pressure.
3D Print
- Print all parts with supplied posture.
- No support structure needed.
- To give different colors to the texts on week and date wheels, use "Pause at Height" function of your slicer. Change the material at height=1.3mm.
Assemble
- Assemble parts with 2mm tapping screws.
- Please take a look at the video above.
Attach the Quartz Movement
- Attach the movement.
- If the central screw (neck) of your movement is long, insert some spacer (washer, etc.) between the movement and front panel to adjust the height of the central gear.
- Attach hands of the clock.
