Cake in a Jar!... Yes, these cakes are baked in the mason jar. It is so much fun and simple too..

I made a simple vanilla sponge cake and frosted the cake with buttercream frosting.

The colors which I have chosen for the cake is to match the Christmas theme... ( Red, Green and White)

Try this cake with your fav choice of colors. I am sure you will love it.

Ingredients & Supplies

Ingredients for cake batter:

Self raising cake flour-1 1/2 cup

Unsalted butter(softened)-1/2 cup

powdered sugar-1cup

egg-2

vanilla extract-1/2 tsp

milk-1/2 cup

Food Color - Red, Green

Ingredients for frosting:

Unsalted butter(softened) - 1/2 cup

Powdered sugar - 1 1/2 cup

Table cream - 1 tbsp

Vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp

Supplies for baking:

1 pint Mason jar - 3

Baking tray

Cooking spray

Cake Batter

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.

Add in 2 eggs and vanilla extract. Mix well with electric hand mixer.

Add milk and sifted flour into it. Mix all well without any lumps.

Divide the batter into two bowls. Add food colors and mix until you get the desired color.

Wash all the jars and pat dry it thoroughly.

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Grease the inside of the jar with cooking spray.

Add 2 tbsp of red batter on bottom of all jars and start layering the jar in alternative batter colors,until you reach 6 layers.

( Leave 1 1/2 inch space in top of all the jars for cake raising)

Fill the baking tray with 1/4 inch water. Place the jars on the tray.

Bake it for 35 minutes or until a skewer inserted and comes out clean.

Let it cool for sometime.

Buttercream Frosting

Take all the ingredients in bowl, beat it in speed 2 using electric hand mixer for about 2 minutes.

Frost the Cake and Sprinkle Sprinklers

Transfer the frosting into piping bag. ( I used 1M star tip)

Once the cake completely cooled down, frost the top of the cake and sprinkle some sprinklers on it.
