Cake Turntable (Showing Handmade Version and Tinkercad 3D Design)

Hello, my fellow peers! I am Reece Mathew, an 8th grader, and I made a Cake Turntable. This item is used to spin the cake to add decorations and provide a sharp/finished touch to a cake. The turntable is also used to apply and coat the cake with icing.

Materials for Cake Turntable:

• 3 water bottle caps
• 3 Cardboard Circles (8 inches in diameter each)
• 1 Cardboard Circle (3-inch diameter)
• Yogurt Container
• Fidget Spinner
• Decorative Paper
• Decorative Tape
• Scissors
• Hot Glue Gun/Tape

The first step is the cut out the decorative paper to perfectly cover the cylinder. Use a hot glue gun or tape to secure the decorative paper's holding.

Make sure the cardboard with the decorative paper is glued on the top of the 3 cardboard circles.

I used Tinkercad to create a 3D Model for those who want to use a 3D printer. As you can see, there are 3 pieces of circled cardboard on the top. There are 3 bottle caps on top of the fidget spinner and one 3-inch diameter circular cardboard piece below the fidget spinner. There is also a yogurt container.

How Turntable Benefits Environment:

• As the cardboard breaks down in the landfill, it releases greenhouse gases like methane. Methane affects global warming 80 times more than carbon dioxide. The turntable reuses cardboard to preserve the environment.
• When plastic like yogurt containers and water bottle caps are not recycled, sunlight and heat causes the plastic to also release greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases contribute to climate change, making the Earth way more hotter.
• Reusing plastic can also help save marine life.
