Hello, I am a 9th grade student at Dublin Jerome High School and I am the creator of CUBICLE, the perfect single-player pocket game!

Objective: The objective of the game is to rearrange the colored cubes on the board in such a way that each row and column has cubes of the same color.

Gameplay: The game board consists of a 4x4 grid of square spaces where the player can place the colored cubes. There are four different colored cubes - red, blue, green, and yellow. At the start of the game, all 16 cubes are randomly placed on the board.

The player must swap two adjacent cubes at a time to create a new arrangement with the goal of having each row and column filled with cubes of the same color. Whenever the player is able to complete a row or column, these will be removed from the board, resulting in more space for the player to move around the remaining cubes.

The game ends when either all the rows or columns have been completed or when the player runs out of moves. The player can move the cubes vertically or horizontally but cannot move a cube into an occupied space.

And that's it - Cubicle, a simple and creative puzzle board game for when you need a break from the cubicle!

Supplies

To Create this 3D model, you will need Fusion 360

Sketch and Extrude the Game Base

Step 1.jpg

Sketch: The game base of Cubicle is a fairly simple design. The outer layer of the game is a 3x3 Inch square and the walls of the outer layer are 0.25 Inches wide. From the inner layer, a 4x4 grid can be sketched, with the walls between the squares each being 0.06 Inches wide. In the center of each individual square, there will be a circle with a diameter of 0.25 Inches.

Extrusion: To extrude the game base, the outer walls and grid walls will all be extruded 0.375 Inches. The Inside of each square will be extruded 0.2 Inches. Lastly, the circles in each square will be extruded 0.125 Inches.

Creating the Cubes

Step 2.jpg

After completing the Cubicle base, you can move on to constructing all the 16 cubes. To sketch the cubes, each cube will start with a 0.58x0.58 Inch square. After creating the square, a filet with a 0.05 Inch radius will be applied to each corner of the squares. Finally, to complete the cubes, each square will be extruded 0.41 Inches.

Adding Details

The last step to complete the Cubicle game is to add in smaller details. First, all the cubes will need to be colored. Four of the cubes will need to be colored red, four will need to be colored blue, four green, and four yellow. The last details are optional, but contribute to the look of the game. Each cube can have a cross applied to the tops of them, the Cubicle name can be applied to the front plane of the base, and other gold highlights can be applied to the base.

And that's it! Have fun playing Cubicle!
