COCONUT SHELL CUP- HANDMADE

In my village, surrounded by countless coconut trees, we’ve long cherished a tradition of using every part of this remarkable fruit. From cooking to crafting, coconuts are deeply woven into our daily lives. Inspired by this heritage—and driven by a desire to reduce waste—I created a unique cup from discarded coconut shells. This eco-friendly and sustainable piece not only reflects our resourcefulness but also reveals the natural beauty in reusing what the land provides. It’s a celebration of tradition and innovation, honoring the gifts of our environment in meaningful new ways.
Supplies

- COCONUT SHELL
- SAND PAPER
- ROTARY TOOL
- HOT GLUE GUN
SHELL PREPARATION

- Take a slightly elongated coconut.
- At the top of the coconut, there will be three germination holes. Pierce one of the holes and drain out all the water from the coconut.
- Cut the coconut as shown above using the Rotary tool such that the bottom portion has more length.
- Now remove the kernel using a knife.
- Now our coconut shell is ready.
FURTHER DIVIDING THE SHELL

- Now divide the shell further as shown.
- Here the top part serves as the base, the middle part serves as the handle and the bottom part serves as the cup.
Polishing the Sides
- A coconut surface is usually rough and husky. So, use the sand paper to polish the surface.
- This step may take up to 3 hours if you are doing it with hand.
The Top Part

- Cut the top part further as shown such that a small hole is made.
- Now, the bottom part can be easily fitted on this top part.
Making the Handle

- This middle part serves as the handle.
- Cut the middle part as shown.
- Now, design the middle part as per your wish.
Gluing Every Part Made So Far

- Now glue them in the orientation as shown using glue gun.
- Dry them for 10-15 minutes.
Finally.....

Finally our cup is ready. Now pour the drink and enjoy the natural bliss.
