CAT CONDO
STEP 1: I SKETCHED OUT MY BASIC CONCEPT FIRST (WHAT I WANTED IT TO LOOK LIKE, DIMENSIONS, ETC.)
STEP 2: STARTING WITH THE BASE AND WORKING YOUR WAY UP, CUT EACH PIECE OUT.
Supplies
SUPPLIES: 1/2" SCRAP PLYWOOD, 3" PVC PIPE (OR CLOSE TO THAT), LEFTOVER SCRAPS OF CARPET, PNEUMATIC OR MANUAL INDUSTRIAL STAPLER, SISAL ROPE.
Carpeting
STEP 3: CUT AND PUT CARPET ONTO PLATFORMS USING HEAVY DUTY STAPLES (MAKE SURE THEY SECURE DOWN FIRMLY AND DEEP SO NOT WHERE THE CAT CAN SCRATCH THEM UP).
Posts and Rope
STEP 4: AS YOU GO, SECURE THE PVC PIPE TO THE PLATFORM WITH SCREWS. TO DO THIS, I CUT WOOD CIRCLES TO THE INSIDE DIAMETER OF THE PIPE AND THEN GLUED THEM IN WITH A GOOD GLUE LIKE GORILLA GLUE. YOU NEED THIS WOOD INSERT FOR THE SCREW TO GRAB ONTO FROM UNDERNEATH.
STEP 5: TRIM THE CARPET EDGES AND CORNERS SO NEAT. STEP 6: WRAP SISAL ROPE (I USED 3/8", BUT YOU CAN USE 1/4" OR 1/2" ALSO). STAPLE THE END DOWN FIRMLY, THEN WRAP IT UP THE PIPE TIGHTLY AS YOU GO, THEN STAPLE THE TOP AND CUT. I PUT HOT GLUE ON THE ENDS TO PREVENT THEM FRAYING, AS A TIP.
