Buzzy Little Bee
Today's story was all about bees. Bees are wonderful, friendly creatures that do so much for our interdependent web of existence! Let's make some friendly bees to honor them.
Supplies
-paper plate
-popsicle stick
-markers, crayons, or colored pencils
-scissors
-construction paper
-tape
Draw Some Flowers!
Draw a garden or a meadow or an orchard or another landscape that bees like in the middle of your paper plate. I chose to draw a meadow full of wildflowers. Bees love wildflowers!
Make a Paper Bee.
Draw a bee on a piece of paper and then cut it out. The bee should be somewhere between 2"-3" long, but it doesn't matter too much if it's bigger! If it's much smaller, though, it'll be harder to tape it to your popsicle stick in the next step.
Tape the Bee to the Stick.
You'll want to tape the bee so that the stick is pointing up from its body.
Cut a Slit in the Top of Your Plate.
Carefully poke your scissors through the plate right at the crease between the center and the scalloped edge. Cut along the arc of the center circle about a third of the way around.
Make Your Bee Buzz Around!
Slide the bee through the slit in the plate. Now it can fly around and visit all the flowers!
