I love to collect all kinds of buttons - old, new, vintage, wooden, shinny, dull, large and small.
It brings me great joy when I am able to use my buttons in a creative way. I started to make these ornaments several years ago for my friends. They seemed to enjoy the creative touch.

These ornaments are very simple to make and look great either attached to a gift or hanging from a gift bag.

A note about buttons:

- You will be using flat buttons with either 2 or 4 holes in the middle.

- Don’t be afraid to mix and match all kinds of buttons when doing this craft.

- This will be most noticeable when you use the white buttons. New ones are super white but, as the buttons age they turn greyish. The white buttons can also be clear. I like to use the clear ones, it is like the snowman is melting.

- Most pipe cleaners are very fuzzy. Theses work but the thin ones work best.

This is a cute little Santa Without Arms. Once you find all the right sizes of buttons that you like, it is easy to put it together.

1. Lay out all the buttons that you will be using in a straight line starting from the bottom on the right side.

2. The sizes don’t matter too much as long as they all work together. If they don’t seem to go well together once you have strung it onto the pipe cleaner, simple take it off, replace it or try moving it around in the sequence. I did this for my second Santa.

3. Get your thin pipe cleaner - either red or black, bend it in half and ensure you leave 1 inch at the top so you can twist it into a loop.

4. You will be starting from the top down. Start with a small white button and place it onto the first leg of the pipe cleaner; then the second. Now push the button all the way to the top loop.

5. Continue placing all the buttons onto the pipe cleaner in order.

6. If you get to a button that has 4 holes in the middle, place the legs of the pipe cleaners in the diagonal holes.

7. Continue placing buttons until you finish.

8. When you are done, twist the pipe cleaners together.

9. With the scissors snip off the excess.

10. Now you can move onto the finishing touches.
