Build an Easy Temporary Door Chain Lock
After a "this stuff belongs to me becuase your a jerk" war that I recently had with my younger sister. Instead of fighting with her childish games, I decided to out-smart her.
In this instructable, we will be building a temporary door lock using a chain.
Its a one-way lock meaning it can be locked from the outside and not the inside although if you do this right, you can unlock it from the inside as well.
This should take you no longer than 10 minutes if you have all of these parts around your house.
As usual I am NOT responsible for damages or injuries.
Not recomended for weak doors, or strong sibblings.
This lock is in no way to keep out a cat burgalar or a real robber and should NOT be used that way. This lock was designed to keep out a 12 year old girl from entering my bedrooom when Im away. If sombody really wanted in that room they would just kick the door down.

Anchor It
Measure your chain to insure it is long enough for the job
Find a place near the door and use the pliers to lock the anchor down as shown. I anchored mine beteewn two doors, but an anchor can be anything from two doors to a railing to another lock to just something really heavy. you decide based on your floor plans of your house and how much chain you have

Tread It
Push the rest of the chain under the door and around the door knob. Then you may tie a piece of string to the last link to give yourself easier reach for the chain. Then pull the chain under the door
Lock It
Put your lock in one chain link on one side of the chain then through another on the other side.
close the lock and youre good to go Depending on the chain length and the place where the lock is the door should only open a few inches befroe the chain pulls and the door is stopped.
In Case of Emergency, Remove Chain
If you have a sibling who is crazy or dumb enough to steal an Ibanez guitar out of the case, or take a Yamaha keyboard without the wall adapter, then more than likely, they will want to lock you in that room.
Try to avoid this by keeping your lock off the chain when not in use and putting the chain in the room when youre inside the room.
If something should happin and someone locks you in that room with that chain, pull the chain up and over the door knob. The lock is then disengauged and no loger works unless put back on the doorknob.
