Bruschetta, With a Twist!
In this Instructable you will learn how to make a simple bruschetta recipe with a secret ingredient...Boursin Cheese! This simple addition creates the perfect appetizer to bring to any dinner party or enjoy at home.
Supplies
To make this bruschetta you will need:
- Cherry tomatoes 1 1/2 lbs, diced
- 4 Cloves Fresh Garlic
- 1/3 cup Basil
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- French Baguette
- 2 tbsp Butter
- Salt and pepper
- Boursin Cheese (1 packet)
- Balsamic Glaze
You will also need the following kitchen tools:
- Bowl
- Cutting board
- Knife
- Baking sheet
Make Tomato Topping
- Wash all produce.
- Dice cherry tomatoes and transfer to a large bowl.
- Stack basil leaves and roll them into a tube. Using a sharp knife, thinly slice the basil into ribbons and transfer to the bowl with tomatoes.
- Finely mince garlic cloves and add to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- Season tomatoes with 2 Tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Stir gently to combine and set aside to marinate for 15-30 minutes.
How to dice: In this recipe I sliced each tomato once down the middle, then sliced each half again. This will create a total of 4 pieces per tomato.
How to mince: First make sure the garlic is peeled (do this by removing all of the dry skin), then keep cutting the garlic until the pieces are less than 1/8 inch on all sides.
Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 400˚F with a rack in the center of the oven
Make Bruschetta Toasts
- Cut toasts into 1/2” thick slices, slicing diagonally.
- Arrange toasts onto a greased baking sheet and brush each with butter on one side.
- Bake for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
Combine It All Together
- Spread the Boursin cheese onto each bruschetta toast.
- Place a spoonful amount of the tomato mixture onto each toast.
- Drizzle balsamic glaze over the bruschetta and enjoy!
Time
20 minute prep time, 5 minute bake time, 5 minute assembly
Total: 30 minutes
Warning
Bread can burn very fast in the oven, check regularly.
Use oven mitts!
Substitutes
You can substitute most types of tomato for the cherry tomatoes. Gluten free bread can also be used.
