Brownie Surprise

When you can't decide between brownies and cookies this recipe is the perfect solution. The crunchy texture of the cookies combined with the chewy brownie makes for an irresistible 'sometimes' snack for all ages.

Collect Brownie Ingredients

10 tablespoons butter (melted)

1/2 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup cocoa powder

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

Mix together melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar.

Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.

Stir in cocoa powder until well combined.

Add flour and salt. Stir until well combined.

Fold in chocolate chips and set mixture aside.

Collect Cookie Ingredients

6 tablespoons butter (softened)

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips

Cream together butter, brown sugar and white sugar.

Beat in egg and vanilla extract.

Stir in flour, baking soda and salt until well combined.

Fold in chocolate chips.

Line a pan with baking paper and collect both brownie and cookie mixture.

Pour brownie batter into pan ensuring that it forms an even layer.

Place spoonfuls of cookie dough, evenly spaced, onto the top of the brownie batter.

Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350 F.

Remove from the oven and leave to cool.

Once cooled, remove from pan, cut into squares and serve.
