Brown Butter Cheese Sauce
Make a basic cheese sauce a bit fancier with only little extra work. Serves 2.
You Will Need
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 cup milk (at the very most)
- 1 slice of sharp cheddar cheese
Materials:
- Small pot (if all you have is an average saucepan you'll need to double the recipe for the butter to brown evenly)
- Wooden spoon
- Butter knife
Brown Some Butter
Stick your butter in a small pot and turn the heat up to medium. The butter will melt and then form small bubbles. When the bubbles get larger and turn golden brown turn off the heat--your butter is now browned!
Mix It All Up.
Turn the stove back on to medium and add in your flour and a dash of milk. Stir that all together. Add more milk if it starts sizzling or burning. Once that mixture is smooth crumble in your cheese. Start with half a slice and taste test when it's all melted in.
