Broken Receiver to Battery Eliminator
Hello creative minds, welcome to MISFIT MAKER.
Today we are going to turn a broken receiver into a functional battery eliminator.
Battery eliminators are very handy gadgets.
Before the lockdown ,while visiting my aunt's house I found a receiver in their attic collecting dust.
I just bought it home. It didn't turn on ,when I plugged it.
When I checked it ,there was nothing wrong with the power supply unit. The problem must be within the motherboard. Anyway, I just thought it would be more useful to turn it into a battery eliminator.
The transformation of receiver I had into a battery eliminator was very easy. All I had to do was to separate out the different voltages within the power supply through a rotary switch.

{ You guys might me wondering what if my receiver board has only single dc output. Say about 12/25/30 volt. In this scenario also, you could make an amazing battery eliminator. All you had to do is to make it into a variable voltage supply using lm317 IC. Just connect the 12/25/30 volt supply to the input (LAST IMAGE SHOWS THE CIRCUIT (ignore the 12 volt shown in the figure) }

Supplies
Old receiver
Rotary switch
ACP sheet
Speaker terminal clip

Some experience in the field of electronics is needed, as there is high risk of getting electric shock .
Extreme caution is needed for this build.
Dismantling the Receiver and Making the Frame.
Firstly we will remove the covers of the receiver.
With the help of a multimeter just make sure that the power supply unit is working fine.
Now we will make the frame for the eliminator using the receiver covers as show in the picture.
Rivet is used to join the sides of the frame. We will also glues in the refill to the frame as shown in the picture. This will act as the threaded bore, through which we will later fix the front cover of the eliminator.
Making the Front Cover.
We are using acp sheet to make the front cover of our eliminator.
Here, I have used a light diffuser salvaged from a car stereo to give it an aggressive look. I only used it to give our eliminator a catchy look. Instead of this, you guys could simply use a led for indication purpose.
Rotary switch, speaker terminal clip, led and the push button switch from the receiver is fixed onto the acp sheet.
I also added a vinyl sticker and some small details to enhance it aesthetic appearance.
Soldering and Connecting.
In this step we will separate out the individual voltages within the power supply ,using rotary switch. The connections and diagrams are shown in the pictures. Solder everything as shown and also connect the led to 3.3volt terminal of the power supply.
Our battery eliminator is almost complete.

Final Assembly.
Finally with the help of screws assemble everything as shown in the picture.
