First you will want to wash your hands, since you will be using them to mix the items. Then begin by cutting your bacon into small pieces, about 1/2 inch wide. This helps when frying, so that you will have crumbs when it is done.
Put the bacon on the burner and start frying it. Make sure you don't set the heat to high and move one to the next step. Just keep an eye on the bacon.

Prepping the Broccoli

Start this step by rinsing the broccoli off. Slice off the stalk so you just have the florets. Break or cut the florets into pieces, and place in the bowl.

Bacon Again

Your bacon should be done. Take the bacon out and place on a paper towel lined plate. Use additional paper towel or napkins and press. You want to remove as much grease as you can. Place the bacon to the side for a moment.

The Onion

Peel your onion and cut in half score each half in about a 1/4 inch grid. Start slicing the onion, your scores will create small pieces. Once you are done slicing and dicing, scrap the onion into the bowl of broccoli. Mix the broccoli and onion together with your hands.

The Bacon and Cheddar

In this step start by dumping your 1/2 cup of sugar into the 2nd bowl. Mix in the 1 1/2 cups of mayo/miracle whip with the sugar. To finish off the mixture add the 1 1/2 tablespoons(or eyeball it) of red wine vinegar. Stir/whip the three ingredients together well.

Start pouring the mix over the bowl of broccoli, bacon, and cheese. Mix everything together until it seems that all the broccoli is covered. Once you are done mixing, cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 3 hours.

Let the salad sit for about 3-4 hours in the refrigerator. When you pull it back out uncover and stir to see if there is enough of the mayo, sugar, and vinegar mixture. If there is not enough make additional mixture of 1 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 tbls of red wine vinegar to mix in until you think it is good, since it is more or less by preference.

Time to Enjoy

The salad lasts 3-4 days in the fridge.
