Broccoli Fried Rice

Hello, my name is Hsa Say, I had a hard time coming up with what to teach my peers, while I was thinking, I was hungry. I made one of my favorite meals, fried rice, which is easy and fast to cook. While I was sitting down and eating it, I thought why not show my peers how to cook fried rice. I feel like we can learn a lot about the culture and the people depending on the food that they eat. They’re so many different ways that you can cook fried rice but they all have similar steps and ingredients. It just depends on the culture and also your preference. For me, I like my fried rice simple.

First, the ingredients you’ll need are white rice, eggs, oil, mixed veggies, and msg. I start off by prepping the ingredients and the first thing I do is scoop a bowl of rice and set it to the side. Some people leave their rice in the fridge to make the texture hard so it’s easier to cook but it makes no difference to me.

After that, I’ll grab my frozen mixed veggies and unfrozen them. I used frozen ones because it’s faster for me to prepare and I don’t have to cut anything. People that have time can use fresh veggies and cut them into pieces but I don’t have time like that. Also, the mixed veggies are basically your favorite veggies that you’ll like to put on your fried rice. I used corn, broccoli, beans, carrots and sometimes I put green onion.

Cooking Process

Again, it’s all about your preference. After I prep everything, I can start the cooking process. I start off by putting my pan on medium heat. Then, I pour about 2 tablespoons of oil. After that, I start cooking my meat and when they’re done cooking, I add two eggs and mix them together. After I stir it for a bit, I take my bowl of rice and pour it in. I mixed them together until everything was cooked.

Then, I added my veggies and stirred them around until they’re soft enough to eat. Lastly, I add this special msg seasoning that I like to kick up the flavor. People usually use soy sauce but I don’t like it so I made an alternative. You keep stirring until everything is cooked and it shouldn’t take long. I usually spend about 15 minutes making this and when it’s done, then it’s time to eat. Fried rice is easy and fast to cook and it’s good for you too. I feel like it can help a lot of college students as well for those that don’t have time to cook.
